In most Chinese eyes, temple is a very sacred place. And people need be respect to it. I had a chance to go there with my family
At past, when I was young, I didn’t know what a religion is. Now, I am growing with the time, something that I know. Different countries have different religions. We are in China, and most of Chinese believe in Buddhism. And there are three other religions in China except Buddhism. They are Taoism, Islam, and Christianism. Christianism also belongs to world, western people also believe in it. That day, I went to the temple, there were many rooms, people can into everyone. Looked everyone’s expression, I could find wishes and clam for them. They wanted to go there to relax and improve their own sensibility. Buddha for people likes a helper; it is the same as Jesus, the common between different religions are all just have a god, so they can follow the god’s way to do the things. It is a very huge bailment. This temple is not very big, but also has lots of people to visit. The condition in there was very quiet and true. Nobody talked loudly and my mother and I were kowtowed to the Buddha. The behavior about the action is important; we should use right behavior to do in the temple. In temple, it has many rules to obey. So you cannot do anything you want in the temple, it is about different culture when my mom and I finished the chapel, we also took the photos there. I think it can as a part of portfolio and it also a special experience for me.

Be a volunteer to teach students

On 25th March, our planning teacher Ms. Bartell arranged us as a group to be a volunteer to teach primary school students English. Before we went to the primary school we prepared a lot, in order to not let them feel bored we made some uno cards and tried to teach them how to play it. However, when we arrived there we found those students were too excited and they just wanted to play games, they even payed no attention to what we teached.

My student was a lovely girl, that's awesome because it was easier to teach, but since all the class wanted to play uno she seemed not really listen to what I was talking about. I didn't like this situation so I told her we would learn some knowledge first, then we would have a little quiz to test how she understand these things. After that, if she did well of course we would play games, but if she didn't we have to restart. This idea worked fantastic, she was interested in uno so she learned very hard and got full marks in the quiz! O(∩_∩)O~ As I promised, we had a great time playing with each other. When I went back, she hugged me and gave her phone number to me.

Through this volunteer work I understand teachers' mind, all they did just be responsible to us and hoped we could have a bright future. I also learnt to be patient and try to stand in the position of other people's thinking, that could make the way to achieve our goals easier. I should admit I gained a lot from this experience. During this process, I had felt a sense of accomplishment, after it I had understand teachers' work better. I deeply realized there are some big differences between work in a group or own your own. As individual, we should prepare all the things and be confident, we must have the ability to face and solve all the problems what would happen. As collaborative, we don't need to do so much work, but we should get along with others well and reveal what you are good at adequately. On the other hand, I wasn't a careful person, but this process trained and changed my characteristic.

In this process, since we acted as a teacher we should be responsible to our students and make sure they all understand. In some ways, this experience has some connections with life skills. Since we know how to work with others and stand in others' situation think problems, we may do better in the future, and it can help us be successful more easily and quickly.

TVXQ! The concert in Nanjing

On 4th Apr I went to Ao Ti-------the biggest gymnasium in Nanjing with some of my classmates to see TVXQ's 3rd concert "Mirotic"~

I have been potty about TVXQ since I was in Grade 8, so I couldn't wait to see them and we arrived at Ao Ti at 1 pm. At first we thought we must be the earliest because the concert would begin at 7.30 pm and we could have a better place to enjoy the concert, but when we saw the endless processions we understood we were wrong. All the fans seemed to be crazy.

The concert was very interesting, because the members of TVXQ worked so hard and were so amiable, Uknow------the leader of the group even use Chinese to salute us. Though his Chinese wasn't so fluent, we could see they had tried best and they spent a lot of time preparing for this event. To us who had supported them for a long time, that is enough. On the other hand, the show was quite wonderful and I really like it because no matter the idea or the performance all look fantastic.

The most important reason I choose this concert to watch is I know Hero was an orphan, his parents gave him up when he was very young. However, he didn't give up himself and he use his own ways to show others he can do it! I was affected by him and I wonder what bolster him achieve success, and after watching the concert I know his assiduity and steadfastness help him become successful. I think this experience was meaningful and unforgettable!

Act in Fashion show

On 27th Apr I joined Fashion show as a model, the show started at 6 o'clock in the dooryard. There were so many people there and all we did would be screened, so we should be prepared and payed attention to all the actions! During the show, we just needed to be confident when we walked on the stage and tried your own way to show the beauty of your clothes. However, since all the Grade 10 students and GCA teachers came to watch the show, you may feel nervous so it also was a chance to learn to control our emotions.

The show was fantastic, all the models did a rally great job and their clothes were nice. But at first I did want to join it because I am a little bit shy and I didn't want to wear cloth in front of so many people, that seemed to be a kind of strange to me. At that time, my art teacher and group members gave me courage, they believed I could did it and they also helped me practiced before it began. That really worked, I didn't feel discomposed when I walked in front of lots of people. I was shook by myself because I never thought I could be the focus among plenty of people, and I felt I was successful. On the other hand, through this event I realized I could do anything I want with confident and ardour!

Impossible is nothing, just do it!

Foreign cultures

At 6p.m. my family and I went to Bella Napoli which in Xinjie kou to have a dinner, and tried to feel the different cultures.

We chose this resturant because this is the first Ltalian resturant in Nanjing, we believe it can let us feel Ltaly directly. The food there was quite different from Chinese traditional food. First, the drink was very beautiful, just like you see on the picture and it tast strange. The first time you felt a little bitter, but after that you may intoxicated with it's fantastic tasty. The pudding and the noddles were delicious, too! I really enjoy them~

On the other hand, the environment there were also very nice. The soft music sounded comfortablely and made people feel relaxed. Everyone in the resturant talked freely and happily, such sentiments were infected with each person. There are also some foreigners there, their eating behavior seemed to be more formal than ours. BTW, the waitress were friendly and paid all their attentions to every ustomer. However, it syill has some disadvantages, the price is a little expensive, but it is worth you having a try.

A special exhibition

This afternoon, my family and I went to Nanjing Museum to watch a special exhibition which include jades, silks and potteries.
We visited the museum from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. it's means I spent about 150 minutes in it! Though this is a quite long time, I didn't feel bored at all because it was very funny and broadened my horizons. My favourite art work was a quadripod which used to install things in the past with four legs. It was so beautiful and grotesquely that I was shook by it as soon as I sew it. It was made of pink jade with exquisite carvings around, when the shiny lights it seemed especially beautiful and illustrious! It's hard to imagine how the ancient people carved out of such wonderful article just use simple tools.
There were also many interesting things to see, so the exhibition wasn't boring and I love it very much. I think this experiment is very meaningful because through the exhibition we can know the development of our history, and it may encourages us, too. This articles are the symbols of China's splendid culture of five thousand years, so we must protect them at the same time we enjoy it!

Physical Activity

At the first term in GCA, I did many physical activities to improve my personal health. I love roller skating and I'm really good at it, so I went roller skating as my physical activity. In order to learn more skills I learnt skating with a specialized coach.
During the activity, I didn't enjoy it at all!! Because I couldn't keep my body in b balance, and I fell down again and again. My body continue to pain and the coach seemed to be angry with me. I became sad and was afraid of skating, not only because falling but also because the coach. The coach soon realized my change, he came to me to teach me skills hand by hand. I even could feel the temperature of his hand, and I felt warm and not afraid at all! I told myself that I must do it well and don't let he disappointed. Through this process, I learnt how to insist.
I thought I have gained a lot from this activity. The coach told me his experience when he learned roller skating. At his time, he wasn't as lucky as me, his family was so poor that could not afford to buy a pair of roller skating shoes for him. So he need to collected bottles and did work for others to earn the money, it cost him 2 years! While he owned his first shoes, a new problem appeared, nobody could teach him. In order to achieve his goal, he learnt skating by himself. His words shook me and I thought I should cherish what I have now!
According to learn roller skating, I become more healthy and I learnt spirit from my coach. I think this will be helpful for my future and my life becomes more colourful and meaningful since I learnt roller skating. This experience also fits my personal goals. I wanted to be healthy and I deeply hope I can learn something and know some interesting things, and this process really did!
Life is valuable, good health will help to make our lives more fantastic and everyone could enjoy themselves with healthy body.

School Club Activity

At the very young age, I was crazy about dancing, but I didn't have chance to be close to it. However, when I came to GCA the older students told me that they have Dancing Club and they wondered if I wanted to join in it. Of course, I soon became a member of the club, and I really learnt a lot in this club.

I didn't receive any training in my childhood, so at first I couldn't do it well and I felt shame because of myself. When I was in a bad mood, the leader of the club came to me and gently asked" What's wrong with you?" "I can't do well." I said sadly. Then she thought for a moment and said" You know, not everybody is good at something when he was born. The same as you, you just need to practice more. Believe me, you can do well!" "Really?" I asked doubtfully. She noded her head with a great smile. With her support, I practiced hardly and never gave up. Finally, I took part in the ending show and succeed. According to that I learned to persist when you face the difficulties.

I think it is a right decision to join in the club, because I gained a lot from these activities. Such as during the process I trained myself in order to improve the resolution. On the other hand, now I can dance hip-pop well and can relax myself by dancing. Also, more people would pay attention to me and I really enjoy the feeling. To my friends now I'm a girl with a striking personality.

Through joining this club, I think the most important thing to work with others in GCA is to be modest and pay attention to others' suggestions. Our club's strength is when we meet difficulties all the members will unit together, and try to save the problems by ourselves. However, since we want to do all the things on our own we may waste our time and it seems that we are over confident.

In my club, I always be active to all the things and I sometimes help the leader carry the things if we have show. I think this club is very meaningful no mater to myself or to the whole GCA, because if students join in it, they can improve their skills and be more active. Then this attitude will help them study. All the things will become a fantastic circle.

The last thing, this club also matches my personal goals. I want to be watched by others and I really achieve it by joining thiclub. How wonderful the life in GCA!

Volunteer Experience

Last term, I helped Ms. Mitschrich to do some volunteer work. We used our after-school time to do paintings and handicrafts for the Dram Club in order to let them finish the work on time.
I think this experience was very meaningful, because I learnt a lot from the team work. Since most of the members are my classmates we became more friendly and care more about others after that. According to this we believed that imposable is nothing, if we united we can succeed 'cause we're the hope of the world!
I also gained something from the process. When we made the phony pig I try to cut a piece of hard and big paper, but it was difficult and I hurt my finger carelessly. Blood soon came out, I was so afraid that I just stood there and cried hopelessly. At that time, all my friends came to me, some of them help me calm down, some of them took me to the doctor of the school, and the others tried to dress a wound. My heart was deeply shook, tears ran down my face and even I could feel the friendship around us! After finished the plenty of work, the teacher thanked us and we all became confident because we realized that we can do everything!
However, we didn't think our work were perfect because we wasted some time and at the end we worked hard and quickly, everyone became tired. So we organized some advice. As collaborative workers, we should arrange the work fairly and plan the time correctly. To help each other is also important. As individual, the only thing we could do was finish our own work.
In the group I was asked to make the lovely pig and to paint the props, it seem to be an easy work. In fact, I an not good at painting,so I spent lots of time painting the props. After this process, I learnt to be confident and I will be more concentrate.

With Grade12!

On December 23 we had a dinner with the Grade 12 students, it was a really fantastic experiment. First, we met in front of GCA at 6 o'clock. After a keen discussion,we decided to go to "Tacos"---------the Mexico restaurant in Zhujiang Lu, because all the members in my wanted to try this kind of food. We went there by bus,unluckily the traffic was so heavy that when we attended there,it was a half past 6 already.

It is a fashion restaurant, the atmosphere was quite romantic and the slowly music made us feel very comfortable. I asked a piece of chess cake, one cup of soup and some snails. The cake looked nice and was put in a beautiful plate, everything was so cute that I was unwilling to eat. In fact, it was really delicious and since it was freezed a little, it tasted cool and unique. The soup comes from Mexico which is traditional. It tasted a bit sour , when you ate with special bread, the tasty became nice and I'm sure I will never forgot! How about the snails? Well, at first I was a afraid of these insects and my classmates laughed at me. In order to prove myself, I tried one~ The tasty was hard to say, I mean may be it doesn't fit me.

These food was quite different from the food I usually eat. They were cooked in different ways, they were made of different spices, and the tasty was totally different. Though the food tasted a little strange, the service was nice and thoughtful and the price wasn't expensive. There were also many foreigners, and it seemed that they enjoyed themselves very much. I think I would recommend others to eat there because of the fantastic environment and service, I 'm sure you will have a great time!

Critique of Wu Weishan's exhibition

Last time, we went to look at a sculpture exhibition in Nanjing University. It was called "The artworks of human", they are all contemporary sculptures about different people. They were made by Wu Weishan---------the excellent artist which is famous not only in China, but also in the whole world. We call him the wonder in sculpture boundary.

In my opinion, the most beautiful sculpture is the "Sleepy boy", Wu made it in 1998 when he visited one of his friends and the expression of the child attracted him, so he soon decided to do a sculpture for the little boy. Mr. Wu used peaceful shapes and simple lines to show the real expression of the lovely child by using different ways of technique. If you touch it, you can fell that it is almost smooth, hard and cold because of the nice clay he used. Since its colour is black, it made people fell calm, because this colour represents grave and sacred. The subject of this artwork is a child.Through the work we see how lovely the child is and his expression is so gentle.Look at his opening mouth,only children will have this act.I think the most successful thing is that the artwork shows the innocence of child.

This artwork made me fell relaxed, because of the subject. That made me think of my childhood, when I was a child, did I have the same lovely expression? This is what I want to know. It also reminds me of my little sister, she also had this expression when she was young. The child looks so relaxed and that makes me think of a warm day. Also through that I can feel the natural beauty of humans. I think the artist wants to show others the wonderful things in the world and to show that how perfect and free our childhood is!

My classmates like the artwork very much, because first of all it is very lifelike. On the other hand, the innocent and pure which the child shows is the spirit what we need! It can change our moods, too. For example, the closed eyes are so cute that we all can't wait to touch it. I think other people might also appreciate this work, because it doesn't add other things, just shows the true thing he saw first.This is the spirit of art, and it can surprised people's hearts by showing the natural beauty.

Luckily, when we left we saw the famous artist and we took photos with him. I think this is the most exciting thing and we also got his sign. He is a nice man, he seemed to be happy with our visit.

He said he hoped we could learn something from this activity.

In a word, this exhibition is wonder and we really enjoy it very much.
